Magnets and Their Importance in Marketing

Magnets can be a fantastic way to market your company if they are used correctly. The fact is that over 80% of refrigerators in the US have at least one magnet on them, so you should use this to your advantage!

Magnets can be put onto refrigerators, appliances, and filing cabinets. This means that they are highly visible and are seen by people constantly. This will help to cement your company's brand in their brain if the magnet is designed effectively.

You can make your design effective by looking around at other marketing magnets that you have seen at home and at work. What are some of the ones that capture your attention the most? In what way are these magnets special? How are they shaped? What colors do they use? What sorts of fonts are used? You will probably notice that there are some common elements to the magnets that you like that draw your attention. Try to use these example magnets as a place to start when you approach printing companies to potentially design and print your marketing magnets. The printing company you select may have some templates on hand that you can use or at least use for inspiration.

Another aspect of design to consider with your magnet is the shape. You can potentially make your magnet into the shape of your product. For instance, if the name of your company is Big Apple Auto, you could make magnets into an apple shape and have your phone, email and website on it. This would make a visual association between the name of your company and the shape. A consumer will more easily remember you when the time comes.

Also, consider the color palette that you select when designing your magnet. If you use bright colors, it will make it stand out a great deal and should help to get your company more attention. You should probably avoid using too many dark colors with your magnet, as this can tend to blend into the color of the cabinet or refrigerator, and people may not notice your marketing magnet as well.

Last, you should consider the font and the lay out of the text on your magnet. Of critical importance is to only have the most important information on the magnet. You should definitely have your company name, and all relevant contact information. If you try to cram too much information onto the magnet, you are going to lose some of the marketing impact. You only are dealing with a few square inches of space, so you need to make every word count. Also, you should not use more than 1-2 fonts on the magnet. Again, you are dealing with a tiny piece of marketing real estate, and you want your message to be very clear, simple and direct.

Overall, if you are aware of these simple design concepts when you are assembling your marketing campaign, your marketing magnets will likely have a very strong impact on potential customers.
