When a medium-sized trade show exhibition sets up in your locality, you will also probably find that the organizers tend to travel around the U.S. using the same trade show theme. It means that companies across the U.S. get a chance to exhibit in their own region without the need to travel too far.
However, if you research the people that attend each local trade show, you will likely find that the majority are within easy traveling distance of the trade show. This naturally also means that if you only exhibit at the trade show in your locality, the chances are you are only promoting your goods and services to those people who could easily get to the show.
This obviously reduces the amount of exposure your company is getting and if your products and services are suitable for use across the U.S. you are not going to get the publicity, if you only attend a local trade show.
Everyone knows that traveling around is tiring and increases costs, but if it's properly evaluated and planned you will find that your company will get the rewards. Perhaps the concept of having to dismantle your trade show booth after a couple of days, then transport it and set up again puts you off, it needn't. Practice makes perfect, as the saying goes, so the more you set up and take down your booth the easier and quicker it becomes.
Traveling with a trade show doesn't mean you don't get to go home in between. There's usually a week or so between each one, so you get time to rest and see your family and friends. You also get a break from the people staffing your booth so when you meet up again you are refreshed. Nonetheless, it does mean you need to select your booth staff carefully; not only do you have to get on with them for extended periods of time, but they have to get on with each other as well.
It is best to use the same people throughout the tour; your will all become a slick operation and know exactly what to do. If you replace someone during the trade show tour, they have to get used to how it all works and that takes a little time. They may also feel a little a left out, while they familiarize themselves with everything.
You will soon recognize other exhibitors who are also traveling around; these can become terrific referrals. When you travel with same exhibitors there's no need to go through the process of finding new exhibitors; they are there with you, it's simply a continuation from the previous trade show.
Don't think traveling around with a trade show is all plain sailing. It requires a lot of dedication and hard work. However, providing you plan it well in advance and have plenty of backup, it's likely you will find it rewarding. Additionally, your company profile will be enhanced and you should see a substantial increase in sales.
