How To Make Your Door Hanger A Welcome Sight

The lady who comes home from a long day at work and who has a couple of kids in tow is probably not too concerned about your door hanger when she sees it hanging on her front door handle. She's got a lot of other things on her mind, no doubt. That may be an intimidating fact: how are you going to overcome this obstacle? Remember that your job as a marketer is to overcome obstacles. You have to turn her negative attitude into a positive one.

First of all, don't afraid to be hokey. The name of the game is grabbing someone's interest, and you do what you have to do. Can you draw a funny clown face or a hobo or some other odd figure that might make someone smile? Nothing wrong with that: the goal is an honest emotional reaction. Simple, quick direct humor is perhaps the best way to at least get someone to stop and take your door hanger inside the house.

OK, so you've got the door hanger inside. Now what? Now you have to make a quick and tempting offer. Door hangers are not there to persuade. That's what sales presentations are for. Door hangers are there to say: got pizza? In fact, that's a perfect example of what you want to achieve: if you are selling pizza, then you keep your pitch as short as possible. All you are really trying to do is put an idea in someone's head: What's for dinner? Pizza! Of course.

A funny face, a word or two and a solution for dinner. What could be more effective? Well, actually, there is more you can do to make your door hanger campaign more effective. Certainly you want to put as much contact information on it: email, phone, web site, Facebook page. You may want to perforate the line at the top of it so the hook part can be torn off and the rest used as a book mark

If you want to go even farther, we would recommend that you consider paying the cost of making something even more substantial: the door hanger can be made of a heavy card board, and a refrigerator magnet can be attached with a glue dot. There's some cost involved, but you can get small magnets pretty cheap and glue dots cost about a penny each. The labor can be taken care of by yourself or some kids who are willing to work cheap. You can also perforate the top so that the hook part of the door hanger can be torn off and thrown away, leaving the main part of the door hanger to be attached to the refrigerator.

Getting people to pay attention to your message shouldn't be that difficult if you pay attention to what you are doing. Getting people to hold on to your door hanger for future reference is something that you should aim for as well.
