Office Furniture and Creating the Right Impression

That old saying that you only get the one little chance to make a first impression is very much true when it comes to office furniture. There are other areas that need attention of course, the way your receptionist dresses and welcomes visitors is also a part of that all important 'first impression'.

For those businesses that have a true reception area, the things that they must attend to include

* The way the furniture is laid out - Is it welcoming and well organised

* The cleanliness of the area

* The way the décor all hangs together

* Plus of course the receptionist's appearance and manner

As the first thing people see is after all the reception area, so if this looks bad, e.g. the area contains a stack of boxes or an untidy post tray, it can really taint that important first impression.

Once your visitor gets to sit down, you can imagine how they would feel if the seat was dirty, has holes in, or in extreme cases springs sticking out. They would just not want to sit at all and could start thinking 'why were they there'. Not the most helpful frame of mind to be in, especially if they are calling to discuss buying a service or some goods.

It must be remembered that part of the way visitors are impressed is by communicating with them in a professional way, and that of course means being able to converse in a the right sort of environment, hence the reason that furniture is important.

This all means that you must plan in some detail the furniture that you are going to place in your reception area and how you are going to provide the correct amount of space for walking round, while all the time keeping the furniture layout simple.

The style used for rest of the furniture in the office should also be similar throughout the building and this could mean that the whole decor of the office could be 'wacky' if this is indeed the impression you want to put across..

Generally however, corporates tend to stick to simple, modern and neutral coloured furniture which compliment the style of the rest of the office. This gives the whole place a professional calm business like tone, one that very much fits in which a big powerful assured organisation.

So, picking the right furniture for your office may not be as easy as some may think, as it requires a real understanding on what type of furniture will give out the right impression and which would give out the wrong one.

The best thing to do is to seek professional advice on what would work best in your unique situation, what styles best will reflect your business to the outside world, whilst of course being affordable and within your budget.

There are many websites around that sell furniture, so take some time to check them out and once you have found enough for a small short list, contact them all and see what they have to say, and how they would help you choose the right furniture for your business.
