Let us examine one way you can begin to build free web traffic. We are only starting to build free traffic because these methods work well over the long term, but do not provide instant traffic. The aim of most free web traffic methods is to build loads of links pointing to your website for specific search terms. When you have lots of links around the Internet then either people find them and click to get to you or the search engines find them and so raise your site up the listings because of its popularity.
There are lots of actions you can take on the web page to improve its optimization for search, but that is another story.
You can build links directly by searching for related blogs on the Internet where comments are allowed and posting a relevant comment with a link back to you own site. This is a great way to build free traffic based on other's good work. Let's say your site is about puppy training and here's how you can do it.
With Google or another engine input the following search...
"puppy training" blog comment
The search engine will give you a list of blogs with comments for your search term. Spot on! In several of these blogs the comments will still be open. So check through them one by one and find the relevant ones. The most valuable ones are those at the top of the search list where the discussions are active as search engines will check them more frequently.
As a professional you will be posting only relevant comments. There are plenty of so called link builders who automatically place spam type messages only to get the links. If you want your posts to remain then you have to convince the site owner that it is of value. If it is a spammy link with something rubbish like 'Great post, for more like this visit mysite.com' then do not be surprised if it is gone when you check back tomorrow - and you are blacklisted from adding any more.
Your first two or three posts should not contain your link, build confidence that you are really interested and knowledgeable about the subject. The site owner will be relaxed and should not be troubled if you occasionally add a link to your own site in a comment. Yes it takes time - but you are building links of quality. If you check them out you'll find many of these blogs are Page Rank 3 or better and so they carry some real weight with the search engines, so it's worth the bother.
Now to find out how to get your links in many places on the one site. Look out for where you register so your name gets attached to your comments. Do register and use an email address that is not your site's one and don't put in a URL at first. Once you have a comment or two that have your links in and have survived then edit your profile to add the web address. On most blogs your comment author's name will then carry a link to your website from every comment you have made - that's a result!
Keep repeating the process; find new blogs and revisit ones where you have successfully left comments. Make sure your frequency of comment is natural and reserved, do not overdo it. Each link out will be counted by Google but you do not want to hack off the site owner so they all disappear in an instant.
So now you know, put aside a bit of time every day to do your research and start adding useful comments. As the number of comments, and the links that go with them, build up you will see more quality links pointing to your website and others will pass on your valuable comments and details to their friends. This type of marketing, where others pass on your message, is called viral marketing.
To Your Success!
