But entrepreneurship on the mental side of things isn't just about not going crazy. It can also be a powerful tool for visualization and placing yourself in the shoes of the successful person you want to be - even if you're not there just yet. There is a popular idea going around called "the law of attraction" that basically says if you think about something long enough then it will eventually happen. While I'm not a true believer of that, there is some level of truth in the concept.
When something does happen in your life, it's probably because you thought about it long enough to put steps into place to make it happen. This combines a level of what I shall now like to call "mental maintenance" with starting to think like the successful version of you would, and today I will share a few ideas to help get you moving in that regard.
1. Meet Your Future Self: Take a moment out of your day and just close your eyes. Imagine who and where you'll be next year (or any other timeframe that suits you) after you've accomplished all of your current goals. Do you like that person? I thought so. Do you want to be that person? Of course you do. Doing this exercise regularly can be a helpful way of reminding yourself that the hard work now will be worth it someday.
2. Dress Like Your Future Self: Now that you know who you want to be in the future, there's no reason you can't start being them today. Dress how they dress, talk like they talk, think like they think. By simply putting on a new set of clothes you can almost literally become another person - you've probably heard actors say how a great costume really helped them get into character, and you can also apply this technique to help you slip into your "rich person character".
3. Un-Clutter Your Space: It's often said that how a person keeps their living space represents their state of mind. Sometimes it can give you a good dose of clarity when you get things in your surroundings nice and organized - plus it does offer the added advantage of being able to find things more easily.
4. Eat A Balanced Diet: What you put in your body has the largest effect on the way you think and feel. If you have a poor diet, then you'll most probably feel lazy, unfocused and simply have no motivation to do anything. Protein (in foods like meats, eggs, beans and nuts) is especially good for giving you that wake-up call.
5. Exercise A Little: Giving your body some physical exercise every day helps burn off any stress that has built up over the course of the day, and it will help you sleep better in preparation for the next one. This doesn't have to be too intense - a 30-minute walk in the evening will do just fine.
6. Change Your Surroundings: It is a well-known fact that traveling makes you smarter, as it opens your mind to new people, new surroundings and gives you new experiences. Whenever you find a chance to get away from it, visit someplace new to give your mind a fresh perspective on things. Take a trip to a day spa (or the male equivalent) to refresh and re-energize yourself - when you get back you'll be ready to take on the world.
7. Schedule Your Day: Before you go to sleep each night, take a few moments to write down and read over what you need to achieve the next day. This will enable your unconscious mind to work on this while you're sleeping, so when the next day comes around you'll already have a very useful head-start. What this means is you will be able to get more done in less time, and also achieve more in a day than you previously thought possible.
