Choosing A Wedding Gown That Really Stands Out

When women are shopping for their bridal dress, one of their number one concerns is finding a dress that is one-of-a-kind. Brides are willing to spend a lot of money on a gown just to get exactly what they want. They look for designer gowns that are truly something special. Some women buy dresses that are not unique to begin with, but they customize the gown and end up with something that is one of a kind. There are several things to consider when browsing bridal dresses and looking for the one that is right for you. Whether you wear the gown as-is or you customize it to make it all your own, there are certain things to pay attention to that will really make your gown stand out. Start with the length. The average gown is long and in some cases, has a train trailing behind it. If you want something unique, go for a tea-length or cocktail length gown. It is fun and flirty, and since it is not the norm, it will really stand out.

Though most wedding gowns are white, there are some exceptions. Certain ethnic customs require that dresses be a different color and some women even marry in bright red gowns. It used to be women marrying for a second time or women who were marrying later in life would not wear a pure white gown. Nowadays, anything goes. Women of all ages wear white gowns. However, women of all ages also wear colorful gowns and if you are looking for a way to make yours really stand out, choose a gown in a non-traditional color. If you are not brave enough to wear a gown in a bold color, consider a soft pink or blue instead of white.

Accessories are another great way to make your dress one-of-a-kind. You can add stylish touches such as belts, sashes, colorful crinolines or sleeves. Many gowns these days are strapless, so if you add an interesting sleeve to the dress, it will really stand out. Brightly colored layers of a crinoline under your dress are fun and add a pop of color in an unexpected way.

Having your gown custom made is one of the easiest ways to make it unique, but it is expensive. Consider buying a bridesmaid gown in the color of your choice and turning it into you wedding gown. Bridesmaids gowns are often made of the same materials, but since the craftsmanship is not as detailed, the gowns are cheaper. Customizing it adds that special touch.

Finally, if your wedding is traditional and an odd gown would stand out too much, but you really want something unique, think of secret ways to customize your dress. If your dress is long, wear a pair of bright shoes that few people will see. You can also pin mementos into the dress. Nobody will even know and it will not affect the style, but the gown will be special because special family items or items you associate with your new spouse are with you the entire day.
