Plan For A Successful Web Site

Taking the time to design a well-detailed plan for your web site will help to ensure your success as an online marketer. Creating a web site with a hit or miss type of strategy, or just going to the hosting service and start creating mindless web pages is a sure sign of bad planning and will lead you down the road so many have traveled, a non-successful web site.
Your goal should be to create a successful web site right from the start, one that can be maintained and updated and kept current with ease and one that generates an income.
To get started on the right foot (or left foot if you prefer) follow these steps.
• Put your plan down on paper first
• Write out a budget
• Create a domain name
• Find a hosting service that will meet your needs
Planning
This is the most important step. Taking the time now will save you save you time in the future when you will have other matters to contend with.
Take out a pen and paper and write out exactly how you want your web site to look and function. Build the framework of your site. Figure out how many pages you want to start out with and the actual name of the pages which will serve as topic tabs the consumer will click on to navigate your web site.
Examples of page topics
Home Page Product Page Or Pages About Us Contact Us Customer Feedback Blog Other
Spend the time and design a great home page on paper and or the computer. This is where your potential customers first land. Detail every aspect, page copy, links, and ads, the works. Do this with each and every page for your web site.
Next Step
Budget
Without proper budget planning you will fail. You will need two budgets. A detailed start-up cost budget and then monthly budget.
Your start-up budget should include all cost incurred to get your web site online.
• Domain name
• Hosting service
• Any software purchased
• Any product expense
• Programming expense
Do not include your time as part of the cost, however if you are paying someone else to help with setting everything up, than that is an expense that should be part of your budget.
Monthly Budget
Write down all fixed cost that you will incur each month just to keep your web site online. Then figure out and write down the amount of money you are willing to spend each month on advertising and marketing your web site.
Again, do not include your time as part of the monthly expenses, only money you actually spend or pay out to another person for work done on your web site.
After you have gone through all these steps, then find yourself a hosting service that will fit all your wants and needs. Then follow your detailed plan in conjunction with the hosting service software and create your very first money making web site.
