Interview Practice Offered to Local School by Redditch Company

Redditch children have gained valuable interview experience thanks to ABC Solutions, a local company who conducted mock interviews with them.

ABC Solutions - an office refurbishment company, spent the day with children from Birchensale Middle School, where the children were able to experience being in an interview scenario.

Simon Beacham, Director at ABC Solutions, arranged for Year 8 students to feel the pressure that everybody has to go through before securing employment after their schooling years.

In order to ensure that the children made the most of this valuable experience, Simon graded the middle school students on body language, appearance, grammar and quality of their application forms.

Anne Willis, Library and Learning Resources Manager, Birchensale Middle School, said: "the feedback from the Year 8 teachers was very positive. The pupils learned a valuable lesson in what to expect from an interview and how they should look and behave when being interviewed."

ABC Solutions remain focused on continuing their corporate social responsibility by keeping a prevalent position within the local community.

"It was a fantastic day at the school and it seems like the children learned a lot," said ABC Solution's Simon Beacham.

"Interviews are feared by most, so hopefully this practice will give the children a head start when they enter the working world."

Many young people have no experience or practice before going into their first interview situation. This means that they are often nervous and have no idea what to expect. It is impossible to get the most out of someone when they feel this way. Academic qualificationa re an important part of etting a job but, many employers would take on a candiate who shone in an interview over a candidate who had higher grades but could not portray the right balance of knowledge, enthusiasm and confidence in an interview situation.

It is important that we give our children interview practice to enable them to shine in the working world. With job vacancy shortages, interview skills are even more crucial. Children and very often adults do not always understnad how important body language and appearance is at an interview. You only have one chance to impress.l Filling in the application form correctly, neatly and with good grammar is also important. This demonstrates your written abilities immedaitely to your prospective employer. It is imperative that it is read thoroughly and care is taken with your handwriting to ensure the write message is passed to the company you are interviewing for.
