A 5K race, bright colors, and a good time with friends is what the Color Run San Diego is all about. There is a sign up process for racers that requires a registration fee, but others can volunteer or just show up on race day to watch the show. A San Diego charity is selected to get a portion of the money that is gathered during the event.
Every five minutes after the race starts at 9 AM, colors are tossed through the air at racers. A large quantity of colored corn starch is chucked at the racers by the volunteers on the sidelines, also known as the Color Bomb Squad. There is no need to worry about toxic chemicals in the colors being tossed since the powdered color is just corn starch. After runners finish the race and cross the finish line, they can proceed to throw colors at all of their friends and other runners who have finished the race.
The Deaf Community Services of San Diego is the charity that the Color Run San Diego will be donating to. Their mission is to enrich the lives of men and women in the deaf and hard of hearing community by eliminating barriers to services, education, and advocacy, and this is why they were chosen. Other organizations will also benefit, and a different charity is selected for each city that hosts a race.
Anyone who participates in the Color Run San Diego will get a t-shirt. Volunteers in the Color Bomb Squad will be given a t-shirt specifically designed for volunteers while racers will receive a t-shirt celebrating "The Art of Running." In addition to the t-shirt, racers will also receive sunglasses, a racing big, and other cool gear from the sponsors upon signing up. Racers younger than 7 can participate for free, and people of all ages are encouraged to take part in the occasion.
The Color Run San Diego is a fun event for people who like to run or people who would have fun as a volunteer. This 5K Color Run occurs each year, and a local charity benefits from a part of the registration fees. People of all ages are allowed to attend as a racer, volunteer, or a spectator, and the more people that attend, the merrier. At the end of the race, every person will be covered in head to toe with rainbow colors, and everyone will have a chance to eat great food, listen to music, and spend the remainder of the day with their friends.
