My family was going to take a much needed vacation to a little cabin on a lake in Northern Idaho and for entertainment during the long TV-less nights, we decided to pick up some cheap jigsaw puzzles. Our family truly enjoyed doing puzzles together, but didn't always find a lot of time to do them with our busy schedules, so we were all pleased with the idea of getting some new puzzles to take to the cabin.
My first thought was just to hurry down to the nearest toy store and pick up what they had on clearance, but when I got there, I found that they only had one kind of puzzle on clearance and that all the other puzzles were way too pricey. Feeling discouraged I determined that we would just have to use our old puzzles and games from previous years.
I got back home and told my wife that there would be no new puzzles for our trip, but she just smiled and said that it would be alright. I didn't think there was anything else I could do about the situation, so I set out to get the boat in tip top shape and pack up all of our other supplies. While I was doing this, my wife came in the room with a smile on her face, but didn't mention anything to me about where she had been or what she was doing.
The next week passed quickly and we were all eager about our imminent trip to our picturesque cabin on the lake. The day before we were going to leave, I went to answer the door and came back with a large package that had been dropped off. I took it to my wife, who cheerfully informed me that she had found some cheap jigsaw puzzles online and had ordered them in order to surprise me and the kids.
We decided to wait until we got to the cabin to show the kids that we had indeed gotten some new puzzles, and they were completely delighted. They were especially amused by the horse puzzles my wife had chosen as well as the lion puzzles she had ordered. She also ordered some 3D jigsaw puzzles which were a new thing for us, and we had a ball working together to try and figure it out, and most importantly, we just loved spending time together as a family.
