A Project Definition - A Number Of Comments To Think About

Why might you wish to recognize a project? That is, what is it relating to a project that offers some advantage? When you have one, the usage of project management approaches produce advantages in making something for the correct cost, at the correct quality and on time.

This by itself decreases stresses and releases precious time for additional activities.

So, in its simplest terms how do you recognize a project? The answer is relatively straightforward, in that virtually anything you do can be taken as a project, from little challenges to huge building tasks. Provided an objective, or aspiration for something is present, it might be regarded as a project of sorts.

Any project can be divided into small steps; it is just the amount and complexity of these steps that determine the dimension of the project. For instance, if you wish to assemble a boat individuals would readily see this as a project. Having said that, if you wished to pick up a book from a table it still calls for thought processes and particular steps. The last case may require putting on shoes, rising, avoiding furniture, extending an arm etc all of these are steps, albeit very trivial.

Characteristics of a project:

Numerous projects possess certain factors that make them more easily recognizable. A few of those traits are provided here but might not be absolutely unique.

They will commence at some point and finish at another. In between is the primary project management tasks.

Normally makes a special item: -

If an item can be obtained simply by entering a shop, or by another direct method, then this is not a project.

Responsibility: -

There can not be 2 people managing the project. One individual will have overall responsibility.

Resources, costs and time: -

Every project will require a specific amount of time, sustain certain costs and use varying resources before its completion. Handling all of these is a major area of project management.

Additional: -

There are lots of other features that are normal to projects, for example evaluating risks, monitoring and control measures, health and safety, along with the consideration of outside aspects, including legal and regulatory requirements. I'm sure additional aspects may occur to you.
