The Disadvantages Of Using Big Job Boards

Online job boards are the best ways to search for jobs on the internet. They are popular with most job seekers and many times they are the very first place they turn when looking for work. Many people rely heavily on major job boards like Careerbuilder or Monster to find their next job and less on smaller sites like indianacareerconnect.com. There is nothing wrong with thinking this except there are some drawbacks to these very popular sites. People need to consider these points when they depend on the larger sites.

One drawback with big job boards is the level of competition they have per job that is posted. There are millions of people who visit the sites on a daily basis. The only problem with that is there are too many people contending for the same jobs. The competition level is very high and who wants to compete with thousands of other people for jobs especially in this tough economic climate. This is the reason why less popular sites like www.indianacareerconnect.com are very useful.

Smaller less popular career sites typically aren't the first choice for job seekers because these sites aren't as publicized as much. As a result job seekers won't spend much time looking for jobs on these sites nor registering for an account and creating a profile. What candidates need to realize is the smaller websites have less traffic for job postings and you could get better exposure for your resume there in comparison with larger career websites.

Many people aren't aware they are competing with legions of other job seekers on the big job boards and they wonder why they aren't receiving any call backs. The reason they aren't getting calls from employers is because employers get inundated with resumes quickly and it takes lots of time to go through all of the applications and resumes sent from major job boards. This creates internal problems as well because good resumes are sometimes overlooked due to the overflow.

A remedy for this situation is job seekers should not rely so much on large high trafficked job search sites on the internet. They are filled with people with the same agenda, same skill sets, same resume fonts, same resume styles, and so on which causes the higher quality resumes to be missed. To get the attention of a hiring manager job seekers should seek other alternative job search sites with less traffic.
