The Best 5 Types Of Floor Protection

I'm often asked 'what are the best types of floor protection?' and my answer is always the same. It depends on the work you are carrying out and the type of floor. So I've put together a summary of the best five types of floor protection for you.

Self Adhesive Carpet Protection Film

Self adhesive carpet protection film is perfect for newly laid carpeted floors and protects against heavy foot traffic, spillages and debris. It is generally used when decorating or carrying out light building work and this type of floor protection is ideal for when you are painting the stairway or any other narrow areas.

Anti-slip Polythene Sheeting

Anti-slip polythene sheeting floor protection creates a waterproof barrier to protect floors from debris, dirt and spillages during the fit-out phase but is generally not used on sites where there is a high risk of impact damage due to its thin nature.

Interwoven Mesh Sheeting

Interwoven mesh sheeting is an effective carpet and vinyl floor protector that is durable and waterproof. More often than not it comes in a wide format for those larger construction sites. Due to its manufacture this type of sheeting is rip proof and puncture resistant therefore reducing the risk of damage from sharp objects.

Corrugated Plastic Sheeting

Corrugated plastic sheeting can be used indoors or outdoors and is designed for the larger more heavy duty construction sites. It is available in many different thicknesses depending on your needs and is puncture, impact and compression resistant whilst remaining strong and light in weight. This type of sheeting is ideal for large building projects, or where there is a higher risk of impact damage.

Breathable Floor Protection

Breathable floor protection is suitable for almost every type of floor surface, but is most commonly used on uncured surfaces like newly finished timber floors or screed flooring. As you can probably tell from its name this type of flooring has a permeable membrane which allows the floor to breath whilst protecting against debris and dust. It's strong yet soft non-abrasive surface has an excellent tear strength.

Well that is my summary of the five best types of floor protection and I hope this helps when you start your next building project.
