Major New Homes Scheme In Hampshire Sees Three Housebuilders Join Forces

Three of the country's best known housebuilders are offering homebuyers an abundance of choice at a development in the market town of Romsey, north of Southampton. Abbotswood will provide around 800 new homes in Hampshire, with Bellway, Bovis Homes and Taylor Wimpey working to provide a huge variety of property types in this affluent village location.

Work started on the site last summer and now no fewer than six show homes are available for house-hunters to view, two from each company. A visit to the site provides an excellent opportunity to discover just how much choice there is in size, layout and specification on the first phase and to check out the deals available, including part exchange and the new government-backed NewBuy assistance scheme.

The variety of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom houses for sale will appeal to everyone from first-time buyers to executive family purchasers, and the first new owners have already started moving in. This new community will also feature a number of new facilities such as doctors, dentist, pharmacy, playground and open spaces.

The official launch of Abbotswood took place just a couple of weeks ago, with Romsey Extra Parish Council Chairman Teresa Hibberd cutting the ribbon on the scheme in front of a large crowd of distinguished guests and representatives from each housebuilder. She said: "It's a great honour for me to open this development. This is going to be a new community in Romsey. Romsey is a very friendly town and we will welcome all the residents from Abbotswood into our community, and we look forward to meeting them. I wish the developers success in selling them. We look forward to the next stage of Abbotswood and hopefully everything will go very well."

Bellway will provide 74 homes on the first phase, including some affordable new homes available through Aster Group. The company has been on site since August 2011 and is currently inviting buyers to its four-bedroom and five-bedroom show houses. The five-bedroom 'Dickens' has been very popular already, with five already sold. This double-fronted property has a large kitchen/family room and separate dining room, which both open out to the rear garden via French doors, a utility room, living room and study, with an en suite master bedroom, four further bedrooms and family bathroom upstairs. Priced from £534,950, this home also comes with a double garage and gated parking.

There are four- and five-bedroom show homes from Bovis Homes too, with plans to open two further unfurnished view homes. The five-bedroom 'Lymington' impresses with its standard specification. Technically a 2.5-storey home, the accommodation includes a kitchen, dining room and sitting room downstairs, master bedroom with en suite, three more bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor and spacious en suite bedroom on the top floor. This property also has a double garage and is priced from £454,950.

Taylor Wimpey's five-bedroom show house comes complete with a large garage and boasts 2,900 sq ft of accommodation, from £605,000. The 'Buckingham' has a kitchen/family room, living room, dining room and study on the ground floor, en suite master bedroom, bathroom and two bedrooms on the first floor and two further bedrooms, including a stunning, spacious guest suite with dressing room, on the top floor.
