Large Detached New Homes For Sale In South And Mid Wales

Several new developments have sprung up recently across South and Mid Wales that cater for larger families needing to find a property with three or more bedrooms - many of which are within easy commuting distance of key towns and cities such as Cardiff, Swansea, Newport or Brecon.

New family homes in Mid Wales

Starting in Mid Wales, Lovell Homes has a collection of three-bedroom new homes for sale in Brecon at Maes Halley, priced from £157,500 to £230,000. Situated in a tranquil spot at the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, these new homes boast spectacular views of beautiful rolling countryside, yet are just minutes' walk from the centre of the vibrant market town of Brecon. Residents will have easy access to Brecon's many independent shops, cafés, pubs and venues, and there is a good choice of local primary schools, plus a secondary school and further education college (Coleg Powys) on the edge of town.

New family homes in South Wales

In the seaside town of Barry, about ten miles from Cardiff, Taylor Wimpey's Golwg-y-coed development offers a good choice of three-, four- and five-bedrooms homes priced from £279,995 to £349,995. Situated close to the M4, Barry also has two railway stations linking to Cardiff and neighbouring towns, plus a range of schools, health facilities, supermarkets, independent shops, pubs, restaurants, local beaches and, of course, plenty of seaside entertainment.

Further west in Bridgend, about 30 miles from Cardiff, Llanmoor Homes has created Llys Fitzhamon in the highly desirable Broadlands suburb. Half of the new homes have already been reserved at this exclusive development of just ten four-bedroom detached properties, and prices are only available on request. Privacy and space are at the heart of the designs, and the homes are set in an attractive "Court"-style layout. This is Llanmoor's fourth successful development in the Broadlands area of Bridgend, reflecting the area's popularity. Just a couple of miles from the town centre and its mainline railway station, which offers frequent services to Cardiff, Swansea and many other destinations in Wales and beyond, the development also offers easy access to the M4 for commuters.

House-hunters looking for a village location, or for a brand new property near Newport, could take a look at Gerddi Rhiwderyn. This Taylor Wimpey development of three- and four-bedroom homes is situated in the little village of Rhiwderin, three miles west of Newport and 12 miles from Cardiff, with homes priced from £199,995 to £349,995. Newport benefits from the best transport links in Wales, including a mainline railway service linking London Paddington (1 hour 45 minutes), and superb road and rail links to Cardiff, Bristol and beyond. Families with children have the well-respected Bassaleg Comprehensive School nearby, and the local Pentrepoeth Primary School within half a mile, and there are plenty of good shops and leisure facilities to choose from.

For families with a bigger budget, Wynndel Property Management has created an unusual development of individually-designed family homes at Naturally Woodlands, nestled in the village of Brynna, in a leafy woodland setting. These high-specification, contemporary family homes are all detached with four bedrooms, and are priced from £425,000. They incorporate plenty of homely extras such as skylights, double-height entrance halls and wood burning stoves, and enjoy an attractive setting between Pencoed and Llanharan, just 19 miles from Cardiff, with easy access to the M4.
