Want To Know How To Make A Website?

If you're like most people, you've grown tired of corporate life and would like to take control of your own life. The internet is currently one of the best places to accomplish this. Of course, in order to do this, you need to know how to make a website. The good news is that you no longer need to be an expert in web design in order to accomplish this. Here is how you can get a website up and running and making money without any technical experience.

Hosting

A hosting company is the business that can provide you with your own space on the web. Browse some of the hosting sites such as HostGator, BlueHost, and JustHost and take your pick. Just make sure that you pick a company with a good reputation, excellent customer service and technical support, and a good price. Make sure that the plan meets you data requirements.

Most hosting companies today are able to provide you with a domain, which is the name of your website. It's best to choose a .com domain. Choose a name that reflects something you're interested and that you think will stick in people's minds.

Install WordPress

Most hosting companies will allow you to install a program known as WordPress on your site with the touch of a single button. If you can't figure out how to do this on your own, contact customer support, and if they can't help you, find a host that can.

WordPress is a free interface that allows you to publish blog posts on your site with very little technical experience. If you are familiar enough with computers to use a word processor and basic websites, you should be able to figure out WordPress in a fairly short time. If you ever run into problems you can ask for help on their support forum.

Install a Theme

Once WordPress is installed and you are logged in, you can customize it to look however you want. The easiest way for a beginner to do this is by installing a theme from one of the thousands of free options available. Click on Appearance in the left sidebar, then Themes, followed by the Install Themes tab. Here you can choose some options that you're looking for, specify a keyword, and click search or find themes.

There are a huge number of options to choose from and odds are you'll find one you like. Once you find it, all you need to do is Install and it will update your site's appearance.

Make Your Site Discoverable

Click on Settings, Privacy, and make sure that "Allow search engines to index this site" is selected, then click save. Go to Plugins, click "Add New," and search for SEO. This is short for search engine optimization. Spot the SEO plugins with the highest ratings and most installs, and click the install now button. You may need to click on Plugins, scroll down the the plugins, and click activate in order to turn on the plugin. SEO plugins make it easier for people to find your site through the search engines.

Customize Your Widgets

You may have noticed that most sites have a sidebar with old posts, comments, ads, social media information, and so on. These are called widgets. You can customize your widgets by clicking on Appearance, Widgets, and dragging the widgets around in order to change your appearance. If there is a particular widget that you've seen before but it isn't available, odds are you can find it by doing a search for plugins the same way that you found the SEO plugins.

Start Writing

Delete the default "Hello World" post by clicking on Posts, All Posts, clicking the check mark next to the article, and selecting "Move to Trash." Now click on Add New and start writing your first post. Congratulations, you've just started production on your first website. There's still a lot more to learn about marketing, writing, monetizing, SEO, and more, but you've already gotten farther than most people ever will.
