How To Build A Website Without Any HTML Knowledge

HTML, or hyper-text markup language, is a coding language website builders use to code a site. Although HTML isn't difficult to learn, it can be time-consuming and tedious. Fortunately, users can learn how to build a website without needing to study HTML first.

For people who want to take advantage of the Internet as a marketing tool or self-expression platform without learning how to code a site from scratch, utilizing a web design software is a great idea. By using software, the site builder can create an attractive and professional-looking site without the tedious hand-coding. Here's a few things web developers can do to make a site without knowing any HTML:

1.) Use your web host's site building software. Nearly all web hosting companies provide a free site builder that comes with many basic options. A designer can choose to customize a preexisting template or create a new template by choosing a layout, color scheme and graphics. This is usually sufficient for a simple page for a private or hobby site.

2.) Make a blog. Blogs are a great way to communicate directly with a readership without needing a fancy website. There are dozens of free blogging sites available, and a few sites have premium memberships that allow users access to even more options. Two of the most popular blogging platforms are Blogger and WordPress, but there are many other sites for amateur and professional bloggers alike.

3.) Use a WordPress site. More than a blogging platform, WordPress is also a powerful site-building engine for all sorts of web sites. Because WordPress is so popular, many designers have created templates and site layouts that can be downloaded and customized. A site owner can even pay a designer to create a totally unique template that can be utilized on the site with a minimum of HTML knowledge.

4.) Download some web gadgets. Chances are that if a person wants to implement a feature onto his website, he can find a way to add it to his site without having to code it himself. Many places offer free codes that can be copied and pasted into a site-building program or widgets that can be installed directly into the site. These allow a site owner to add advanced features like comments, chat rooms, social networking buttons and more.

5.) Hire a coder. For very advanced features that must be custom-coded, a site owner can hire a freelance web coder. Dozens of websites exist for people to find coders that can complete work for hire; once the freelancer agrees on the price, he will complete the project and submit it to the site owner, who can then use the code on his website. This is a great option for people who are creating sites that require advanced coding to open but are mostly self-sustaining afterward, such as an online store or a dating site.

Although it's very possible to learn how to build a website without using any HTML, it may be worth learning some HTML basics. By taking the time to understand how coding works, a site owner will have a better appreciation of what is possible and why certain designs are more effective than others.
