Every social media channel is now used by people as both personal and professional accounts, and with that in mind it's only right that we track how each one does. The most recent study tracked how recruiters do their work and found that jobs posted on LinkedIn received three times as many applications than those posted on Twitter and nine times more than on Facebook.
Why does LinkedIn continue to lead the way?
There are many stats that we can use to show exactly why these things happen but ultimately the reason for this is because this channel has always been marketed as the place to go for recruitment. What's been found is that recruitment needs can be solved exclusively through LinkedIn with 48% of recruiters using this without the other channels.
Recruiting on Facebook and Twitter can be unnecessary thanks to the fact that they have so many connections linked to them already. Thanks to the personal and fun nature of how Facebook was built, it's important to know that posts can be wasted if not done properly. Twitter, on the other hand, is far more professional and even if you don't have your full target market as followers, a retweet or the right hashtag can get you involved with the right job seekers.
What does the growth look like?
With things as they are, and LinkedIn leading the way, could it be possible that this will change? With the recruitment market being monopolized by LinkedIn at the minute, it's hard to see how this can change.
It continues to grow at a pace that is unmatched by its social counterparts, and shows no signs of slowing down. The stats show that 18.5 connections are added on average to a recruiter's LinkedIn account and that compares to 3.3 Twitter followers with only 1.4 friends on Facebook. And, when it comes to views of the jobs, they receive six times more than Facebook and three times as many as Twitter.
Where do we go from here?
Within the media, and the whole world, we continue to talk about convergence for growth and this is the case in recruitment too because while LinkedIn is undoubtedly number one using the three channels can increase ROI.

I think it's not impossible that in the future, Twitter and Facebook can be the leading sites for recruitment. As of now, businessmen are engaging in these sites for marketing purposes and I think sooner or later they will formalize their accounts for recruitment purposes.
