An Affiliate Marketer's Day - Building Your Business

We all know that every day is unique, there's no such thing as a typical day. However, it is still a realistic thing to do to look at what we are doing and what we should be doing to reach our goals. So let's imagine our affiliate marketer's day.

Being in an on-line universe the affiliate marketer has easy access to a vast range of tools and services. There are so many tools to use or investigate, results to review, emails and instant messages to reply to and interesting thoughts to follow up. In fact it is amazing that we get just about anything useful done sometimes!

Let's determine an order in which to do things so that the essential work gets done - and we still have some 'me time' left for fun ventures.

So where must our first target be? Customers! Without customers your business venture becomes an expensive hobby. Thus the first priority must be any customer service emails, helpdesks or discussion forums you may run. From here you will get a heads up about any priority problems that need fixing; links broken, downloads not working, payment site issues. Do Don't delay, get these resolved first. Every problem like this is costing you sales and disturbing your customers.

Next reply to any customer queries and questions. Customers - and prospects - like to know that they are valued. When they do get a prompt and good response then they tell others driving more sales in your direction - at no extra cost. If they are neglected then they are likely to give a poor report to about three times as many people. Not good news.

Now it's time to check out your websites and ensure all are working as expected. Sort out any issues right now - it is important for your professional image. Each site should have a more detailed check each month where you click through all the main links, especially the Action links, to make sure nothing funny has happened either to your site or to the destination of the link. Draw up a rolling calendar so spreading out the work. It is easier to manage a few at a time rather than all at once.

OK, all working OK, then on to check out the results. Check your various affiliate accounts and look at the daily activity. Do you see what you expect? You do have a plan with your expectations for each report do don't you? If not then it is like going on a journey without a map. If signups are above target are sales too? If so what good lessons can you learn so you can apply them to the rest of your business? If they are significantly below what can you do to start making an improvement?

Now check your visitor statistics if you have websites so you can calculate the visitor to sales ratio. Are they on plan; are they trending in the right direction; do you need to do some testing?

It's time for your Facebook Pages, Twitter and other social media services. These services need daily attention to get the best effect. But use only your business accounts and set a time limit.. Login no more than twice a day, do what needs to be done and then LOG OUT. There are few things more distracting than a string of little pop up messages taking you away from what needs to be done.

From what you have done so far you may well have sufficient to fill the rest of your day. But if everything is running smoothly then it's time to start looking forwards and outwards.

Are you looking to set up a new affiliate link? Then you can use all the lessons you have learned to plan it carefully and make it the best one yet.

Do you belong to and participate in affiliate related forum or chat room discussions? Taking part earns you appreciation, and helps you form potent partnerships. It also keeps you up to date on the latest trends and tools.

Write articles to advertise your affiliate website. You should write two or three each working week, every week. Write them one day and then publish them the next. The gap is to permit you to sleep on it overnite and improve it before circulation.

And talking of sleep, you've merited a decent rest after a profitable day as an affiliate marketer.
