Las Vegas on the Cheap

The land of sparkling lights, never-ending neon, and people, people, and yet more people is a very exciting and overwhelming place to be.  Las Vegas is a place to experience.  There is a little or a lot of almost everything there and it can get quite costly if you want to be a part of it all and take in everything.

Being “cheap” as my husband calls it or “frugal” as I prefer to be called could have posed some problems when we were fortunate enough to travel to Las Vegas last year.  I hate to spend money on things such as gambling….however there is way more to Vegas than gambling!!!  A lot of it is also FREE or at least relatively inexpensive.

One of the best values going is riding the bus.  It will take you up and down the strip pretty much any time of day, it drops you off at the casinos, restaurants, and you can transfer to take in other parts of the city as well.  While on the bus you get to see all of the hotels and casinos and from there you can decide what you would like to see.

It is a lot of fun checking out all of the casinos in the hotels, they are themed to the hotel, for instance old style saloon type slots on Fremont Street right up to the very elegant in Caesar’s Palace.   Every hotel and casino is different and you can wander around and check them all out to see which your favorite is.

Shopping can be expensive if you like… Prada, Tiffany, Coach and all of the others are here, or you can hit the outlet malls for some great deals and excellent savings.  There are lots of brand name stores in the malls and the selection is great.  The bus will also take you to the mall so you don’t have to try to navigate the Las Vegas traffic.

Food is another area where you can spend a LOT or you can spend a reasonable amount.
There are lots of chains there as well as some very exclusive places.  Buffets are big there so if that is your thing you can eat very well, prices vary on the buffets, some are expensive and some are quite reasonable.  There are also lots of sports bars and pubs where the food is plentiful as well as well priced.   Check it out, you can eat pretty much anything here depending on how much you want to spend and also what you like to eat.

Las Vegas is definitely a place to explore and enjoy.  Wander around and check out everything that time allows.  From water shows at Bellagio to pirate fights at Treasure Island there is always something to see… and a lot of it is FREE!!!
