The employees' contribution should be recognized and valued by the manager. Creating an outstanding workplace with respect and work flexibility will go a long way in gaining loyalty and happy employees.

But do not forget that an excellent manager also gives constructive feedback to any undesirable issues such as bad performance. It may not be something you're comfortable with, but you need to ask the employee what he can do to bounce back on his feet. In this way, the employee can also assess himself on what he has done and on how to improve his performance.

A monthly gathering for employees to give feedback or awards can also be a good step to encourage your employees to do better. Employees will feel recognized and valued and this in turn will make them want to work harder and do better in the workplace.

Dedication at work is a powerful motivational tool too according to a business coach. A superior who is committed at work will soon gain followers who would want to do the same thing. In short, being a good example to your employees is the best way to manage them effectively.
