Marketing can certainly be approached in many ways. There are a lot of strategies available for business owners to think about. Just to mention some of them, there is direct mail, mass media, and telemarketing. Both mass media and direct mail have proven time and time again that the right marketing strategy will give your company that boost it needs. How about telemarketing?
Telemarketing is basically a marketing strategy in which a salesperson comes in contact with a potential customer through the phone. Of the three marketing strategies, this is the most "personal" of them. Some business owners can also give testaments to prove that hiring telemarketing companies did their company good. Question is, is it the best way there is?
Hiring a telemarketing company as part of the marketing strategy certainly has its pros and cons. Although it is to be taken into consideration that hiring a telemarketer will generally take a load off the company's back and is usually the easiest way to help a business grow. Not all business owners have the time to find leads and/or contact its prospective market. This is pretty much the bread and butter of telemarketing service. Contact centers have employees who spend hours on the phone for its clients, constantly searching for leads and advertising the service or product that your company provides. Some of these call centers can have telemarketers call business prospects who might want to try a specific service or product. They also set up business appointments for their clients. They use telemarketing lists provided by the client. And due to the nature of the medium, a specific contact center might be able to make hundreds of calls in a day and even if a small part of these calls might actually be quality calls. Client companies would be able to see a significant increase in their revenues.
In the contrary, if your company already has a steady amount of leads but cannot handle the amount of inbound calls coming in. There are also contact centers offering inbound call center services. A very good example of this are those phantom channels selling stuff ranging from growth enhancers to dog food. The numbers one sees on display are not actually the direct lines to the specific business. Instead, the calls are received by an inbound telemarketer who will answer questions regarding a product and can also receive an order all in one call. This kind of telemarketing gives the customer a prompt response, and will be able to satisfy their need for some details. This also offers the customer the convenience of making an order right away as soon as their doubts have been overcome by the telemarketer on the other end of the line.
Albeit all the good things mentioned about telemarketing, there are some negative comments regarding the said strategy. Although modern telemarketing companies are spending a lot of effort restoring their reputations. People might say its a real pain having somebody call you at the most unexpected of times without notice, but this is straightened out calling the right people looking for the right product.
Business can be likened to a numbers game. Businesses rely on profit. Businesses needs all those possible sales and possibly to reach out to all prospects out there. It may have its pros and cons but it is a time tested method. One thing is for sure, it can be a huge help for your company.
