Email Marketing Tip - Connect With Your Target Market

As soon as you get the first few people on your list, start talking them them. Use what they have to say to your advantage. It's another big perk of list building that most marketers and online entrepreneurs ignore. Here's how easy it is to tap directly into your target audience and use what they have to share to make your niche website even better.

GET TO KNOW YOUR IDEAL CUSTOMERS

Once you start getting people on your list, talk to them. Invite them to hit reply in your emails and share their thoughts, comments and questions. Get to know these people and learn more about them. What are their concerns? What makes them tick?

The more you know about your customers and your target market, the better you'll get at writing content that speaks to them and sales copy that converts. This could make the difference between generating just a few sales (be it as an affiliate or for your own products) and making a full-time income with affiliate marketing like I do.

ASK THEM WHAT THEY WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT

Every so often, I ask my readers what they would like to learn more about it. If I have an email newsletter in a particular niche, I ask for suggestions on what to cover in an upcoming issue. On my blogs where I write a lot of "how-to" information, I ask them what tutorials I should work on next.

Ask your readers for input. What do they need help with? What can you explain to them or what tips can you share? Use the replies to come up with fresh article topics and blog post ideas. Use them in your newsletters and auto responder emails. Create videos that show them how to do things. Use those questions to give your readers exactly what they want.

ASK THEM WHAT PROBLEMS YOU CAN HELP THEM SOLVE

Pay attention to anything you hear from readers about a problem they have that they need to solve. For example, if you have a parenting website and get several emails from desperate moms who can't seem to get their child potty trained, that's a problem. Help your readers solve those problems by sharing some tips and then recommending a product.

If you don't have a product of your own or don't feel like creating one, find something good that you can be an affiliate for. Going back to the potty training example… I read a few different ebooks and picked the one that seemed most comprehensive and worked out well when I was potty training my daughter. That's the one I started promoting on my parenting site.

A GOOD CONNECTION WITH YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE CREATES WORD OF MOUTH ADVERTISING

Last but not least, there's something else that will happen as you develop your relationship with your readers more. They will know, like and trust you more because you're taking the time to talk to them and help them out. And what do we tend to do when we really like something? We tell others about it. It's true for local restaurants as well as niche websites.

Make that connection with your audience and reap all the various rewards.
