1. Focus on the audience. As article marketers we all want to brand ourself and use our articles to drive traffic to our websites.
However, this should not be the primary focus of the article itself. The article should be written with the reader in mind.
Understand that people like to read about benefits. Everybody wants to know what's in it for them.
Keep your article factual and focus on the benefits to the reader. If you do this when they get down to the resource box they are going to click on your link.
2. Not maximizing an article. Search engines are not interested in duplicate content.
Therefore article directories are not interested in duplicate content either. To maximize an article you write you must make it unique before submitting it to the article directories.
As a content writer we use Submit Your Article to get unique versions of our articles into as many directories as possible. We can also take these unique versions and use them in blog networks such as Free Traffic System.
There is no sense in going to all the effort to write one article if you are only going to get one backlink from it. This is especially true if you're writing longer articles of 400 words or more.
3. The article outline. It seems to me that many articles are not written with a clear outline in mind.
I like to quickly lay an article out so I know what it's going to look like before I write the content. Many of you will be writing articles around targeted keyword phrases.
This means that your keyword will be in the title, in the introductory paragraph, and in the closing paragraph. Just write variations of it in the body and you do not have to worry about keyword density.
Use bullet points or numbered list articles in your outline. This way you can focus on three or four main points which will help make the article flow better.
In summary these are 3 article writing mistakes I see people making all the time. Submitting articles to article directories is a great way to get backlinks and traffic to your site if you do it correctly!
