Taylor Wimpey Offers Hope To First-Time Buyers Of New Homes In Essex

Leading UK housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has new homes available through the Government's FirstBuy scheme at several of its developments in Essex. With the current average deposit for first-time buyers at 30%, many find themselves priced out of the market, but FirstBuy is a new Government-backed initiative aiming to remove this barrier. In a shared equity arrangement, the Government and the housebuilder jointly provide a loan, which is interest-free for five years, to cover up to 20% of the property's value. The buyer is expected to contribute a minimum cash deposit of 5%, thus reducing the size of the mortgage required to just 75% - making it far easier to secure the remaining funding.

Just 60 miles northeast of London in the historic town of Colchester, Taylor Wimpey's Blenheim Park development has two-, three- and four-bedroom homes priced from £120,995 to to £299,995. Colchester itself lays claim to being the oldest recorded Roman town in Britain, yet is rapidly expanding and offers a great selection of high street shops, museums, arts venues, sports facilities and even a zoo. The town is centrally located within Essex and has good rail and road links to the north and the south. For residents at Blenheim Park, there is a good choice of schools for all ages nearby, and while the development is close to the countryside and plenty of green spaces it's also just 50 minutes away from London Liverpool Street station.

On the southern edge of Colchester, The Quarters offers a vast range of properties of various sizes and styles to suit all sorts of buyers, including one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses. Designed with light and space in mind, these homes are priced from £115,995 to £249,995, and again enjoy everything Colchester has to offer.

For a quieter rural lifestyle, Taylor Wimpey's The Firs at Priors Green is set in the peaceful village of Takeley, close to Bishop's Stortford and the historical village of Great Dunmow. The two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes at this development are priced from £224,995, with some plots available through FirstBuy. Primary schools lie within five miles, and there are secondary schools in nearby Bishop's Stortford, while Great Dunmow offers modern amenities including good transport links and shopping centres. For commuters, The Firs is close to the M11 and A120 offering straightforward links to the M25, the London orbital, Bishop's Stortford and Braintree rail station.

For London commuters, Taylor Wimpey's Reflections development in Romford blends traditional and modern architectural features and offers a convenient base. Historically a market town in the county of Essex, Romford is now the administrative quarters of the London borough of Havering in east London. Priced from £136,995 up to £182,995, the range of one- and two-bedroom apartments at Reflections fits in seamlessly with the environment, and they are within walking distance of shops, pubs and restaurants. There is a good choice of primary and secondary schools in the local area, while for commuters the A12 is just north of the town centre and links with the A406 North Circular, the M25 and M11. And for work or leisure trips into London, Romford railway station is less than a mile from Reflections and offers direct services to London Liverpool Street, just 20 minutes away.
