"We chose Willow Gardens because it's in a great part of the UK and close to our family in Kent and Hampshire," says Alison. "It's an attractive development close to lots of green countryside and close to the sea."
The sea has always played a major part in their lives, as Alison's husband James is a retired Sea Master. After their initial research on the internet, where they were able to see photos and floorplans, they decided to investigate Willow Gardens further, which meant a 12-hour flight for James to visit the development in person. Pleased with the quality of what he saw, the couple then reserved their home, which is part of Redrow's New Heritage Collection of Arts & Crafts-inspired property types.
"We liked the way the rooms are laid out and Redrow fixtures and fittings are all good quality," Alison adds. "Buying a brand new home made the whole purchase much easier. Everything is new and therefore easy to maintain. We've got no repairs or upgrades to do and, thanks to the modern build specification and energy efficiency standards, it will be easy to keep the house warm."
It's not just James and Alison who will benefit from all these advantages of buying a new-build home, as the couple plan to rent their new property out for a period of time before they move back to the UK permanently, making it a shrewd investment as well as a delightful residence.
Willow Gardens is located eight miles from Eastbourne, just off the A22. The selection of three- and four-bedroom homes on the scheme currently are priced from £209,950, though eligible first-time buyers may be able to purchase selected plots with the Government-backed HomeBuy Direct shared equity scheme, financing just 70% of the property price up-front themselves, with the remainder funded by a loan from Redrow and the Homes and Communities Agency, interest-free for five years.
