Support Your Local Businesses Or They Will Leave

I admit that I do not like to shop. Going to the mall is not that fun for me. Even if the food court does have a good steak sandwich shop such as Steak Escape, or a Panda Express for some Chinese food.

I imagine this true for a lot of us. The alternative is to shop online. Pretty much anything can be bought on the Internet and shipped directly to your home.

Even Omaha Steaks ships their products in dry ice. No sense going to the local King Soopers or Safeway. Or is there?

You may have noticed some local businesses in your area that have gone out of business. I live in Highlands Ranch, Colorado which is just south of Denver.

This is an upscale area with about 100,000 people in it, but you can see the effects of a poor economy even here. Pretty much every strip mall has vacancies. They are easy to spot with the For Lease signs in the window.

This is got me thinking different about how I do my shopping. I think it's important that all of us support our local businesses if we expect them to be around.

It's not cheap for a business to pay monthly rent. If people bypass them and shop 100% online they will go out of business.

Some businesses are immune to this. For example, I go to a massage therapist in Highlands Ranch.

My neck and shoulders get pretty sore doing Internet marketing full time. I have not found a way to get a massage online.

Other industries require someone to help you. If you are going to move here you would be looking for homes for sale in Highlands Ranch, Co.

You might be able to do your browsing online, but when comes time to look at homes you need a realtor who handles Highlands Ranch homes for sale. This is example of another industry that you can support locally.

How about getting a hair cut. Finding a hair stylist in Highlands Ranch is easy to do online. Why drive further to another area when you can get a hair cut sloe to where you live.

Smart local business owners are integrating Internet sales into their business. If you are going to purchase online you should take a little bit of time and see if any local businesses have a website you can purchase from.

Not everything has to be bought on Amazon even though they are very convenient.

In my mind it is worth taking a little bit of time to shop locally. The payoff is businesses in your local area need your support no matter how you purchase from them.

If you do not support your local businesses expect them to leave and go somewhere else. Even worse is they may even go out of business.
