Street Level Marketing Works

Local stores can benefit from street level marketing by targeting the people that actually pass the business on a daily basis. This may be old school marketing but by making localised passing trade aware that your business is open and available to them is a step in the right direction. Secondly by informing them of what is available in terms of services or special offers, serves to engage the customer on their terms without interrupting their routine.

Although there are tactics that will lead them to the streets in street level marketing, business owners do not have to literally take to the streets. One thing business owners can do is offer their services to their local newspapers by writing an advice column. By doing this, business owners demonstrate that they are experts in their fields which is a great way to induce trust in them in their communities.

Fliers have been a well-known method of advertising for a long time. This type of advertising is also less expensive, and it is the type of tactic that will take the business owner or the employees literally onto the streets. Fliers can be left on bulletin boards, but they can also be mailed to local potential customers. Business owners just need to acquire a mailing list, and they will have a group of people they can mail their fliers to over and over again.

Most cities have organizations that host events in the city. If there is an opportunity to be a speaker at one of these events, it is another great strategy for business owners who want to let more people know about their businesses. This speech will be another opportunity for business owners to let people know they are experts, and will also be a place where they can distribute their business cards, fliers or brochures.

One simple form of street marketing for a local business such as a restaurant is chalkboards. Restaurants can easily write their menus and their specials for the day on these boards and leave them outside the door of their restaurants for people who are walking by. At lunchtime, they may see something enticing and not be able to resist walking into the restaurant.

If an establishment has a more permanent message they would like to impart to customers, pavement signs would be a convenient way to let these messages be known. These signs can be as elaborate as the business owners want them to be; businesses exist that will make fancy, colorful signs that can be placed outside of an establishment's doors. They can also be less impressive and made the business owner or employee if someone has a particular talent for it.

The old tried and true method of going door to door is still a strategy that marketing specialists recommend. If business owners remember that they are not selling anything, they will do well when they interrupt people at their homes. The point is just to introduce the fact that their businesses exist and to ask the homeowners if they may leave their fliers in their mailboxes. The best day to perform this strategy is Saturday.

Street level marketing contains several tactics for business owners to get the word out in their communities that they have a new business. Radio and television ads are impressive, but if what business owners need are local patrons, they could not do better than to show people that they also are a part of the same community.
