Navigation Systems On Popular Websites

You can learn a lot about putting together your own website by studying how other popular sites have been put together. A navigation bar is simply a bar with buttons on it that contain hypertext links so when you click on them you can navigate between pages. For example, if you are on a business website you will generally see a tab called "Home" at the top of the screen and when entering a website you are generally located on the "Home" page. If you were to click an "About Us" button, that would load another page on the screen.

Google is one of the most visited websites used all over the world today. It is so widely used because you can pretty much find everything there is on the internet with it. Google is what's known as a search engine. The Google format is simple and very easy to use. They have several tabs on their main navigation bar which include web, images, translate, scholar, blogs, real time, Gmail, "more", and more. They also have a sub navigation bar after you search something which is located on the left side of the screen which includes "all," photos, videos, more, city, the web, anytime, all results, and more tools as well.

Using Google's navigation setup is very easy. Their setup is so direct and self explanatory, especially on the home page of Google. The format is simple and easy for people to use because it's not a cluttered mess of hundreds of buttons or pictures; just a simple, straightforward application.

Facebook is another extremely popular website on the internet. Facebook is a social media networking website. The main navigation bar is located at the head of the page. From left to right it contains a friend request button (system), messaging system button, notifications system button, search, home, profile, find friends, and a system button for your account setup. The sub-navigation bar on the left side of the screen contains news feed, messages, events, friends, create group, and a list of applications once you are logged in. The format is easy to use once you get used to it, but like many involved websites there will be a period of orientation. After a week of using their website, it should be a pretty fluid experience.

Another extremely popular and widely used website is YouTube. This website is a video sharing community. It contains music videos, personal videos, business videos, any type of video, you name it. There are millions of people using this system every day. YouTube's navigation system is also easy (as easy is the best for visitors). You have your search bar, browse, upload, create account, and sign in buttons at the top of the screen. The rest is just basically the internals of the website. It recommends videos you might like, music, entertainment, sports, most viewed, top favorited videos, and more.

Setting up your navigation system is relatively easy. There are many websites that give you an already made navigation system along with a free website such as "Webs". You can build an easy to browse website today. Remember, simple browsing is the best as it's easier for people to use. Even the biggest most visited sites keep everything simple and straightforward.
