Stop To Consider

I understand you probably have much better things to do, have many more important matters on your mind, but humor me for just a couple of moments. Consider what changes the Internet has made daily life as we know it today. Also consider what other innovations might not be present had it not been for the Web. There is no denying there are tens of millions world-wide using the Internet. Yes, people do exist who have never, and will never, know the experience of going online. They see no reason for including it in their lives. In all honesty they will live a long, healthy and happy life without it. I was a late bloomer, not discovering the Internet until seven or eight years ago. Once I experienced being able to see the world through the Web, I was never the same.
Without the Internet, shippers would still be forced to continue paying a potion of retail overhead whenever purchasing in stores. In addition, they would only have access to products available on the local level, Should someone live in a smaller community or in a rural area, there may not be a Junior College, Trade School or University close at hand. With the absence of online training, access to continuing education would prevent many from bettering themselves. This would also have an impact on those with families who would be unable to attend classes because of daily schedules. One of the major accomplishments of the Web was bringing individuals living in cultures throughout the world within easy access to each other. Without the Internet, many would still be living with preconceived opinions of others. Individuals would not have learned there is not really that much of a difference in the many members of the human race.
Some might beg to differ, but I firmly believe the Internet was responsible for spawning many of the various innovations in technology we value so highly today. These are items such as the many different types of Cell phones. Yes, I am sure someone would have eventually figured everything out, and we would be at some point still using our cells. I'm not completely sure as to the various "smart phones" with the thousands of available apps, but you never know. There are items such as iPads, iPods and many other additions to modern technology which we may, or may not, be able to use had it not been for the Internet.
There are many who say we would be better off without the Internet. Yes, pornography is readily accessible to anyone online. However, it is still a matter of personal choice whether you allow yourself to view what is there. Keep in mind very little in the world is either all good, nor all bad. The value of anything should lie in the manner in which it is used. Yes, there are precautions which can be taken to protect our children from the bad, while enabling them to take advantage of the good.
