The best restaurants do not have bug problems, but they are constantly on the look out for risks. There is always the chance of a problem when there is a lot of food and a lot of people passing through an environment. If a restaurant does not have bugs, it is because they have been vigilant about their bug prevention. There are some major components that go into protecting a restaurant from bug infestation. As long as owners are careful about these things, problems are unlikely to occur. The first is inspection. Owners must be on the lookout for problems and it does not hurt to have a pro check thing out, even if there are no signs of a problem. Inspection should occur near trash bins, sinks, kitchen equipment and appliance. Use glue traps to monitor a problem and make sure nothing is going unnoticed.

Exclusion is another important step in the battle against bugs. Make sure you keep them away before problems begin. Occasionally a bug will make its way into your space. This is natural. You need to do all you can to prevent it though and to drive them away if they do make it inside. Keep windows caulked and seal up any holes. Have tight weather seals around the doors. Do not prop the door open at any time. You might also want to have the outside arear around your restaurant treated to create an exterior barrier betwen the bugs and the inside.

More than anyother kind of bug, restaurants deal the most with roaches. This is because roaches love human food. Dealing with roaches is challenging for restaurants because none of the extermination materials can be applied near the food. It should be limited to crevices, cracks and walls where you see them the most. Combining several methods of elimination such as insecticide and bait helps keep the problem under control. A professional exterminator will be able to tell you specific chemicals to avoid.

The second most common bus in a restaurant is the fly. Flies end up entering anywhere there is an opening and they do it fast. As deliveries are made, trash is emptied and customers enter the restaurant, flies will make their way in. The worse the sanitation procedures, the worse the fly problem becomes. Just because a fly is in a restuarant does not mean the restaurant is poorly sanitized, but it is rare to ever see flies at restaurants that are considered top-notch. Fly traps can help eliminate the problem and avoiding open doors as much as possible will prevent them from entering.
