In the 'smallest room in the house' we often like to relax a little so this place should be fitted out for just such pleasure. A tub with a Jacuzzi system inside perhaps, or how about a shower with shower heads that shoot from all sides. Even the sinks have some rather special designs these days and some are made to look like a bowl placed on a rather beautiful cabinet. Hidden in the cabinet is all the water pipes etc. and even the faucet are discreet enough not to be noticed. Also, in this room, choosing garish colors is not really very popular these days. Even dark tiles are not de rigueur anymore and this can actually detract from the value of the house itself. It is better to have white or neutral tiling with accessories to match so that the color can be added with wonderful towels, candles and plants. There really is no need to make this place look overflowing with too many accessories since this will also detract from the finished look.
The flooring too can be the same type of tiles that are on the walls, or of a similar finish, as this makes the room look bigger anyway. You can add some swish and sleek roller blinds or vertical ones and the room will be practically finished. Mirrors in this room are also necessary buy why not cover one complete wall with them to reflect as much light back into the room as possible?
Professional companies will have all of these ideas themselves, of course, so if one is stuck for a design, see what they can come up with. They may try to sell the most expensive accessories that they have, naturally, but this is a small price to pay for having the room finished in double quick time.
Always get the company to commit to timelines wherever possible since this is what normally causes all kinds of problems between the contractor and buyer. If they start and then take their time, the whole family will be put out and this is really not very professional at all. It may be a good idea to put in some penalty clauses in the contract if they do not live up to their end of the bargain too. Never, and we mean never, pay all the money up front otherwise the job may never be finished!
