Validating Creditors

Because I'm employed at a judgment lead referral company, I talk to a lot of folks about their judgment situations. Most folks have no idea that their judgments are not guaranteed, and that many judgments do not sell for much cash upfront. My articles are my opinions and are not, legal advice. I am a judgment referral expert, and not a lawyer. If you ever need legal advice or a strategy to use, you should retain an attorney.

Many judgment creditors do not wish to spend additional money trying to collect money on their judgment. Most people are seeking a collection or purchase solution which doesn't require them spending cash. My job is to bring together those judgment owners with judgment buyers and judgment recovery professionals and lawyers.

From my experiences, I have learned not to do too much research until I get a copy of the judgment, what's known about the judgment debtor, and even more importantly; until I know the judgment creditor has an accurate comprehension concerning the judgment's situation.

I screen many judgment leads every day from many sources. Most judgment owners are shoppers that call many folks, before eventually and possibly choosing a judgment collection or buying choice. Often, I get the creditor's same judgment lead sixty times over a year.

Certain people who refer judgment leads to my company have asked me, why doesn't every judgment owner follow through to get their judgment recovered or purchased? Some have also asked, why do I require judgment owners to look at our web site before we work to help them?

The reason a lot of judgment owners do not begin the process of getting their judgments recovered or bought, is because they're stuck in modes of wishful beliefs, shopping, or hesitation. The reason we ask all judgment owners to look first at the main page of our web site, is so the creditors can see a few basic facts on the subject of judgments. Having folks (who have access to a computer) look at my website, is our test to check whether they are ready to get their judgment collected or purchased.

While we work hard to qualify and find the right solution for every judgment, I do not want to waste anyone's time, particularly mine. If judgment owners aren't told the truth, or won't accept the facts, nobody can help them. These four beliefs can prevent creditors with average judgments, from ever getting a chance of recovering some money from their judgment:

1) "What, I have to assign my judgment? No can do!" Unless their judgment debtor has obvious available assets, many times assigning your judgment is the only way of getting back any money for a judgment, over the long term (without paying your own money).

2) "What, I need to give up half of what may be recovered to get my $3,000 judgment collected? No way!" The expenses to collect judgments is going up each year. It can cost $500 or more to recover a judgment, so on small judgments, the charge is almost always 50%.

3) "Huh? They cannot guarantee recovery in 30 days? No can do!" Judgment recovery cannot be accurately timed, and when your judgment debtor doesn't have obvious assets, there can't be any short time limit.

4) "Huh? They will not pay me 50% cash up-front? No can do!" The typical judgment sells for 1-7% of its initial value. Only the debtor's current or future assets may get attached to repay a judgment. Unless your debtor is Apple computer or Bill Gates, No one ever pays anything close to 50%.

In my experience, the truth about typical judgments can't be absorbed by a lot of people. It seems many judgment creditors spend years failing to find a purchaser or have any collection of their judgment; before they will finally believe their judgment is hard to recover. Popular judgment-related companies receive so many judgment leads; they don't have time to attempt to educate stubborn judgment owners who did not yet, or will not, smell the coffee.
